Blackpool fans ride to Burnley for Gary Parkinson
12:05pm Friday 18th November 2011

RIVALRIES were put to one side as Burnley hosted a trio of intrepid Blackpool fans raising money for ex-Claret Gary Parkinson.
The travelling Tangerines are cycling from Bloomfield Road to the Riverside Stadium for tomorrow’s Championship clash with Middlesbrough, including two more of Parkinson’s former clubs – Preston and Burnley – along the way.
Matt Smith, John Aspinall and Nick Smith arrived at Turf Moor yesterday afternoon, where they were greeted by Gary’s wife, Debbie, and his former Burnley and Preston team-mate, David Eyres.
And after tucking into a hearty roast dinner in the Bob Lord Stand, they were back on their bikes again.
The cyclists are fundraising for the Gary Parkinson Trust Fund and the Stroke Association and have so far raised £1,050.
