Chorley mum in £2k benefit fraud
2:58pm Wednesday 4th January 2012
A Chorley mum-of-two has pleaded guilty to falsely claiming more than £2k in housing and council tax benefits.
Lisa Holmes, 24, of St Gregory’s Place, made the claims on the basis she was working and in receipt of tax credits and her partner was unemployed.
However, South Ribble Magistrates’ Court heard Holmes failed to report that her partner had started work.
Magistrates were told Holmes had previously accepted a caution from Chorley Council for another benefit offence. Holmes was sentenced to a two-year conditional discharge and ordered to pay £85 costs.
